Annapolis Renewable Energy Park Job/Vendor Fair

Where: Pip Moyer Recreation Center, 73 Hilltop Lane, Annapolis
What:
groSolar, a Maryland solar development, engineering, and construction firm, will be
holding a job/vendor fair, seeking interested job applicants and local small businesses to
support groSolar’s construction of the solar segment of the Annapolis Renewable Energy
Park, which will be performed over the upcoming Fall and Winter, commencing early
October, 2017. GroSolar estimates a maximum total construction workforce of 180 to 200
persons, both full-time and part-time, skilled and unskilled.

businesses
• Attachment 2 provides a list of jobs currently available from groSolar and its major
subcontractors, and job details
• Attachment 3 provides a fact sheet about this project, which will result in the largest solar
energy project built over a closed landfill in the United States.
The solar segment of Annapolis Renewable Energy Park is being developed by the
privately owned Annapolis Solar Park, LLC, under a lease of the land over the capped
former Annapolis Landfill, on Defense Highway near the City of Annapolis. Annapolis
Solar Park, LLC has engaged groSolar, of Columbia Maryland, to manage construction of
the solar facility. groSolar has nearly 20 years of experience delivering solar projects across
North America including solar projects on environmentally sensitive sites in New York,
Indiana, Vermont, and New Jersey.
Annapolis Mayor Michael Pantelides, who will also attend the event, stated that “This job
fair offers opportunities for local businesses and jobs for our residents. I encourage
everyone interested in working on this project to come to the job fair and talk to the staff at
groSolar.”

Annapolis Solar Energy Park
Job Fair Talking Points
September 25, 2017
▪ The Annapolis Energy Park will feature an 18 MW (DC) or 12 MW (AC) solar project
which will consist of 7 separate solar farms across the landfill’s cap
▪ The City of Annapolis owns the Annapolis landfill and will be purchasing a portion of
the clean renewable energy generated by the project along with Anne Arundel
County and its schools
▪ Annapolis Mayor Pantelides is a local leader promoting the use of clean renewable
energy; it’s great for the environment and it’s great for the local economy
▪ Once complete, the solar facility will be the largest project on a capped landfill in
the US
▪ The solar facility will produce more than 20,000,000 kilowatt hours of electricity
each year
