Volunteers to honor veterans by laying wreaths




Wreaths Across America has a mission. First, it is to remember our fallen U.S. veterans. Second, to honor those who serve. Third, and finally, to teach children the value of freedom.

Saturday is National Wreaths Across America Day. The organization will coordinate wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and more than 1,100 locations in the United States, at sea and abroad, including Mound City National Cemetery.

“We’re not here to decorate graves. We’re hear so you can take the opportunity to reintroduce yourselves and introduce your children to the men and women here, and remember not their deaths, but their lives,” Karen Worcester, executive director of Wreaths Across America, said in a video on the group’s website.
