More than a week after severe flooding left the city of Mulvane under water, homeowners are starting to get an idea of how much time and money it will take to get life back to normal.

Patsy and Jim Hedden don’t have flood insurance and say it’ll take months, and cost at least $30,000 to repair their house – nearly one-third of what their home is worth. The flood filled their home with about a half-foot of water, damaging just about everything it touched.

Like most families, they’re still in the cleanup phase. But that work is something they’re not tackling alone.
