Driving on highways in Iraq in search of enemy bombs is an experience that’s hard to relate to unless you were there. And even though it was six years ago, Sgt. William Keller recalls his service during Operation Iraqi Freedom like it was yesterday.
“We found a few (bombs),” said Keller, a Montgomery County Community College student, during a recent visit to the Pottstown campus. “It was very hot, 135 degrees. We witnessed a few explosions.”
Keller, 34, said he misses the camaraderie, the hard work and discipline that he experienced during his 11-month military deployment. He talked about it at the college’s new Veterans Resource Center, 95 S. Hanover St., Pottstown.
The center opened several weeks ago to provide educational resources, including benefit counseling, and computers for veterans on the Pottstown campus as well as in the local community.
