Disabled American Veterans building in Knightdale gets makeover

Some local veterans received a much-needed makeover to the new place they’ve made their base.

Saturday morning, Honeywell, a manufacturer of military products, teamed up with Rebuilding Together of the Triangle to renovate parts of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) building in Knightdale.

About 30 Honeywell employees work with Rebuilding Together volunteers to replace the floor boards and add cabinets to the kitchen; they also painted the exterior and put up gutters to control water issues.

Representatives for the two groups say it’s the least they could do for our heroes.

“It’s really rewarding to help DAV in Knightdale,” said Dan Sargant with Rebuilding Together. “We’re excited to do a little something to brighten the day of these folks who’ve sacrificed so much.”
