Albright College event helps veterans access benefits

By Dwayne Parker

Business and education leaders gathered at Albright College to make sure veterans get ahead in today’s competitive job market.

The event was called “Boots to Books & Business.” Shaun Rostek, 38, from Sinking Spring wasted no time in networking with Berks County’s top movers and shakers in the job market.

For 13 years Rostek was in the Marine Corps and served in Iraq. Now his sights are set on the accounting field. He says the skills he learned at war have prepared him well. “I think many veterans, some, feel alone, don’t know where to turn, so it’s a good thing these people are here to actually help,” said Rostek.

Organizers say this event helps veterans get the education benefits they need to survive in today’s tough job market.
