Fran Little said God planted a seed that has grown into the Town of Catawba’s Veterans Garden of Honor.

“No one does anything by themselves,” said Little, chairwoman for the project that was conceived in 2013 and dedicated on Nov. 7.

“A lot of people have put in a lot of effort to make this happen. And, of course, God planted the original seed that has grown into this beautiful garden that provides honor and closure to so many veterans. Those veterans deserve this, and Catawba deserves this.”

Little, 67, is a Georgia native who lived in Fernandina Beach, Fla., until she married Catawba native Bill Little, a Vietnam veteran who served in the Army in the late 1960s. She and Bill have a son and two grandchildren. It was while attending a reunion of Bill’s Ivy Dragoons Infantry Battalion that Fran was inspired to pursue the Garden of Honor project.
