The proven and extensive real-world experiences gained by former military experience duty often benefit veterans completing the transition from active military duty to the civilian workforce.
During the course of service, veterans often gain skill sets that make them valued employees; however, some veterans may seek help honing trade skills, refining job interview skills or finding a new purpose when they enter the civilian workforce.
“Many people who leave the military find themselves at a loss for a new mission. In the military, there is no shortage of people telling you what to do and when to do it. Civilian life can be very different, and it’s difficult for many who are making the transition,” said Carl Salazar, director at the Mayor’s Office of Veterans Affairs for the City of Houston.
