Doctoral Student Surveying Women Veterans from All Eras

Air Force veteran Kiersten Downs believes 2015 is the year of the woman veteran.

 “I feel women veterans have a strong voice right now,” says Downs, who served more than eight years in the Air Force and Air National Guard.
“So much is happening with the two women graduating Ranger school; it’s a big year for us, and I see it as a time to continue with this high level of energy for women to give them the recognition they deserve.”
Women veterans make up nearly 10 percent of the overall veteran population and are considered the fastest growing group of veterans according to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
But despite those statistics, women veterans remain underrepresented when it comes to advocacy and research – an issue Downs is looking to tackle – with your help.
