On Memorial Day, Legends bar on Madison’s west side was set to hold a fundraiser for Dryhootch, an organization that helps veterans survive life after war. The bar’s general manager, David Ajdini, was forced to cancel when he found out they had been robbed.
“When I came here at 5:30 Memorial Day morning and met police I was shocked,” he said. “I was more shocked that we had to cancel everything, everything that we worked really hard to get this event going we had to cancel it.”
But Saturday Ajdini got to try again.
“It’s great. You can’t really describe the feeling,” he said. “I’m getting goosebumps, that’s how the feeling is.”
Dryhootch has programs to help veterans with issues such as homelessness and post-traumatic stress disorder.
