An Army reservist with five deployments under her belt has been selected as director of the Maine Bureau of Veterans Services.

Gov. Paul LePage swore in Adria O. Horn to replace Peter W. Ogden, who has served as the director for 11 years, on Friday at the State House, Capt. Norman Stickney, Maine National Guard spokesman, said in a press release.

“Having the right person to lead this organization and advocate for our veteran population is essential,” LePage said in the statement. “I have complete confidence that Adria will continue the selfless service that Peter has so faithfully discharged over his career.”

Horn, a West Point graduate, serves as a reservist with U.S. Pacific Command, and she is a state staff member for U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, a position she will be leaving, Stickney said.
