Hiring fair helps vets find jobs

By Joanna Hammond

Veterans in Santa Rosa County now have a helping hand in landing a job or transitioning from active duty into civilian life. The fifth annual Northwest Florida Veterans & Military Hiring Fair will be held on Oct. 27 at the Navarre Conference Center.

The free hiring fair is hosted by Jobs Plus and Workforce Escarosa and is designed to help veterans find jobs within the local community. The event is being held in conjunction with the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and the office of Congressman Jeff Miller, R-Chumuckla.

Employers from around the gulf coast will be present to conduct on the spot interviews, so attendees should come dressed in professional attire and bring their resumes along with them.

Bill Neal, Local Veterans Employment Representative with Workforce Escarosa, said that 40 employers will be at the fair ready to do on the spot interviews with potential employees. Traditionally, this event has hosted more than 600 veterans.
